Day 67

Date: July 21, 2011
Time: 12:06am (CST)
Playing on DVD Player: Taken (movie)

Location: Broken Arrow, OK
Recent Trip: 200 miles
Welcome to Jenks High School! This is a "local" place for the Cadets. They have come here for a few years in the past. Great field, beautiful high school campus (yes I said HIGH SCHOOL campus), and lots of spectators,

So we had an entertaining time this morning in our shade zone. There were thousands of bugs crawling around the trees that were around us. They were camouflage in the tree so it sort of looked like the tree was moving. When the techs got over to the pit to start rehearsal, they were baffled at the amount of bugs that were around. In the picture below, you see Mike having some fun stepping on all of the bugs. Little did he know, gave off this rancid smell when they were killed. Too bad for him he had to deal with it. Silly Mike.
Recently in rehearsals we've been working on a couple specific spots in great detail, then just doing large sections of performance repetitions to keep everything in shape. But overall it seems that the entire corps is doing great and is in great shape for the rest of the season. We are ready to take on the rest of our shows and show the fans what we've got. The Cadets have a history of doing things that people don't normally do, and we're living up to our name this year.
Rehearsal with the brass for the ballad
I know I say this every time, but our show tonight was the best on yet! Everyone responded the way we wanted, no one fell on the field, everything went very smoothly, and we performed it as we intended to, the 2011 Cadets. We jumped over 1 point in score from last night which is a huge bump for us. We're all very excited and anxious to get back to rehearsal and make the show even cleaner and better sounding than tonight's show so that the San Antonio Regional on Saturday is a piece of cake.

CPit Spotlight 2011
CPit spotlight, July 21st edition is featuring none other than Brendan Walter!! At the age of 18, Brendan is playing the xylophone in the Cadets pit. Currently, he is a music education major at Oakland University and is from Troy, Michigan. When Brendan is not shredding on xylophone, he enjoys disc golf. He also enjoys seeing his girlfriend, Kelley Foley; which he would like to give a shout-out to Kelley as well as his family "I love you guys and miss you!" Outside of the Cadets, Brendan has been a part of Eastside Fury Indoor Percussion for three years. The one thing that separates the Cadets from any other group he has been a part of is the work ethic, the detail, and the fun we have. "It doesn't compare to anything I've ever done before."
