Day 66

Date: July 20, 2011
Time: 12:18am (CST)
Playing on iTunes: "Crawling in the Dark" by Hoobastank

Location: Wichita, KS
Recent Trip: 200 miles
We're not in Kansas anymore... Oh wait...yes we are! Aside from the assumptions of the crazy heat the Kansas has, it wasn't too bad today. Although the pit was in the shade for the majority of the day, until ensemble. We got a lot of work done despite the short schedule for the show at Wichita State University that night.
Iris' dad giving us our Gatorade
Over the course of the summer, we've had various friends and family of pit members come and visit us. Most of the time when someone has visited us, they have brought us some sort of drink, whether it be Gatorade or water, they have brought us some kind of refreshment to keep us going throughout the day. The past few days, a girl by the name of Iris Heady's, in the pit, parents have been volunteering with the food truck. Everyday they have brought us Gatorade. Enough for the entire pit!! Thank you guys so much!! Her mom and dad are very gracious for doing that for us. So if you're reading this, are planning to come see us rehearse at some point, and would like to be the CPit's new favorite person, feel free to bring us some Gatorade, Sour Patch Kids, Sweedish Fish, anything chewy and flavorful, especially refreshing!

Iris would also like to personally say "THANK YOU MOM AND DAD FOR BRINGING US TONNSSS OF GATORADE!! I LOVE YOU!!"

Another great show tonight! The Cadets took over The Wichita University stadium by storm. The crowd was absolutely into the show and I was having a blast hearing the crowd reactions to everything. This was the type of crowd that aids in our show's energy. The more responsive crowd you have, the more energy your show will have. And we definitely had more energy this time! We got better, yet again, today. Let's keep up with our motto, Cadets!

Cadets 2011 Spolight
Iris (left) and her older sister Sheila (right) in 2010
So speaking of Iris Heady, she is the CPit spolight of today. Iris is a second year percussion rack player at the Cadets and is 21-years old currently in her age-out year. Originally from Springfield, MA, she began playing piano at 6-years-old and from there she transitioned to percussion. She just graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Communication and a minor in music. When she's not making an impact with her performance facial expressions, she enjoyes watching and playing sports. One thing that Iris has learned from being with the Cadets is how to sleep in incredibly uncomfortable positions on the bus, and "how to scour out secret locker rooms across this beautiful country." There's no doubt you'll miss Iris' performance energy from anywhere in the stands. Her energy could be felt from anywhere. If you'd like to see this girl play, come to one of our upcoming shows!

Thought of the Day: "Patience is a virtue."
