So...Nebraska...umm...What can I say about Nebraska...Not much. There's lots of farms as you see from below, but other than that; nope...not much to say about Nebraska. Except that it was very hot.

I had no clue what to think about Nebraska on our drive out there. I never really thought about the state honestly. Was it hot, was it cold, flat, round...well I found out it was hot and flat; as most mid-west states are. But aside from that, we got there off of a 12-hour drive from Denver. We pulled in around 11a and we had about 1 hour to get ready and do what we needed to do before brunch. Brunch was pretty awesome. I loved being able to get out of my bed and have grilled cheese, corn dogs, and chicken. Mmmm...very tasty.
So due to the extreme heat and humidity...well actually just to preface this, it actually wasn't THAT hot, it was just much hotter than Denver and Seattle, where we had come from. So that became a drastic change. But being in the pit, you tend to be able to find shade zones very easily. As you see, the pit found some shade for our meals.
Today was a very, VERY short day. Since we got in at 11a and then had brunch, we did really start until about 1p. We had a show tonight so we needed to leave around 5/6p. One semi-long rehearsal block took care of the time in between start and finish before the show. The show was in Omaha and was going to be a very important show for us because the Cavaliers were going to be there. You cannot tell from the scores I've showed you but we've been bumping back and forth with the Cavaliers between first and second.

The show, from the my perspective, went great. But after leaving the show and hearing the scores, the corps was not very happy with their performance. I knew that I had a great performance which is all that matters to me, but the corps needs to be great as a whole. The big thing I think is that we all need to make sure our mental state going into the gate before the show is at it's peak. It we aren't ready to perform, then we cannot perform. And from what George told us, we weren't ready to perform last night. But all we need to do it go out there after these next 5 rehearsal days in Minnesota and throw it in everyone's face. We're ready to kick some butt and we'll show everyone that we mean business.
