Day 65

Date: July 18, 2011
Time: 11:38pm (CST)
Playing on iTunes: "Trippin'" by Godsmack

Location: Kansas City, MO
Recent Trip: 480 miles

Hello Missouri!! This place was very beautiful. The most homey state we have been too. Reminded me of the movie Field of Dreams with all of the baseball practice going on and all the farm lands. It was a humid 95 degrees all day, but luckily it was an extremely short day. We rolled in around 10:15a. We started rehearsal at 12:30p and had three short blocks that brought us to 4:30p where we loaded up to go to the show in Kansas City.
So aside from the tractors driving on the main road...there were some interesting things around the beautiful state of Missouri. Below you see a beautiful house with two mounted knights in shining armor. On the right you see a silver knight on their doorstep and on the right a gold knight on the garage. This is pretty insane to have two of those on your house...not really sure why they had them.
Tonight was a great show for the Cadets. There was a large crowd as well as a very responsive crowd. Everyone seemed to love the show, and from the pit the show felt very well executed with a lot of energy. Those are the recipe of success; energy and connection. We did better tonight than we did last night, our score keeps going up and our performance keeps getting better and better.

Bass Impact
1) The Cadets - 86.65
2) Blue Devils - 85.55
3) Boston Crusaders - 80.1
4) Blue Knights - 78.2
5) Spirit of Atlanta - 75.0
6) Glassmen - 73.75
7) Colts - 73.4
8) Crossmen - 72.75

After the show, the Colts opened their food truck to feed three of the drum corps tonight. That's a total of about 500 people. We were able to be a part of that. They were gracious enough to cut 25 full-sized watermelons, lots and lots of chocolate fudge brownies, and make a plate comprised of mac 'n cheese, corndogs, and french fries for each corps member. Thank you so much Colts!!

CPit 2011 Spotlight
This week's spotlight is on our youngest member in the pit. Her name is Bri Taylor. She's an 18-year old upcoming college freshman who plays the synth and percussion rack. Coming from Mechanicsburg, PA, she has participated in her high school indoor percussion group since she was in 7th grade. Although Bri's favorite thing in the world is food, she is a vegetarian. But don't mistake her, she still eats chicken. Her favorite food is "anything with potatoes...Oh and I love candy and blue gatorade!!" She is having a great summer with the Cadets so far and is excited to continue her Cadet experience next summer and the following summers until she ages out. Aside from performing with the CPit, he favorite thing about the Cadets is the reputation you have when you put on that uniform. She also loves the vibe of everyone in the corps and how everyone is so motivated to be the best they can be. There is no doubt that Bri is full of energy and always has a smile on.

Thought of the Day: "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life."

  1. I so look forward to reading your blog each day. Thank you so much for taking the time out to share with us all what's going on in Cadet-land. I know it can be difficult for you to find the time after you have been rehearsing in the heat all day. Keep up the good work and GO CADETS!!!
