The rest of the busses roll in...we roll out! Today was our last day before tour. The entire morning block for the pit was saved for logistics. We needed to unload the entire truck from the day before, organize everything, and make sure that anything we didn't need from the summer was separated from everything we did need. All of those separated piles also had to be separated and organized depending on what was apart of the pile.
After unloading, I went over and helped my friend Andrew organize the mallets. We have a huge box of mis matched mallets and we needed to organize them by type. So we took a bunch of small plastic bags that came with the mallets, separated them by type, and put them in the bags. Then we labeled the bags in order to know which bag had which mallet. This was essential because the biggest problem with mallets and disorganization comes from people looking in the mallet box, seeing mallets, not knowing which ones they are, taking them out of the bag to see which mallets they are, then just throwing them back in. So we devised a system as you see. Hopefully it's a dummy proof system...
At least 100 pairs of mallets. Some dating from the 2005 show!! |
This morning Bill, one of the handy men, built units for the wine glasses that we're using this season. This is a great help for me because I'm in charge of setting up the wine glasses. Since the beginning of the season, we've been just taping the wine glasses to trap tables which has worked but wasn't going to be very efficient for performances. Here's what he made:
After our afternoon sectional block followed by ensemble, we had to get ready, eat, pack, and load. Then we were off to WalMart for a couple hours to get any last minute things before tour. I had to make sure I got my Lifesaver gummies for the bus which is essential!! Otherwise, I have everything I need for tour. Seems to me after getting settled in on the bus that a lot of vets have lots of stuff hanging from the windows and such, and I felt a little weird not having as much on the windows as far as miscellaneous things which led me to believe I forgot things. But I told myself, it's my first time on tour, I packed everything that was on the list and what people told me so I'm okay. I'm very excited for tour and cannot wait to see the west coast!
HERE WE GO!! See everyone in Allentown!
Thought of the Day: "It takes one second to change something, it takes a lifetime to keep up with that change."
