We're back in Pennsylvania! 15,000 miles later we've finally returned! Our first home show out of the three home shows this weekend. This is a huge weekend for us. I'm extremely excited for tomorrow because we'll be back in my homestate of Massachusetts, but tonight is the corps homeshow, and time for the corps to show their natives what they've been doing.

We arrived around 6:00a and got a little over an hour of floor time before we got ready for the day. Unfortunately the day bought wetness for the most part after lunch and continuing. Hop gave us threats of rain all morning and so as we waited, nothing. Then after our lunch break, we worked with the battery section for a little bit then moved to field. Without fail, once we covered our instruments and were about to part for the field it began to rain. And this was a steady rain. From then til the beginning of ensemble was just pure wet. It did not rain one drop during ensemble but once we packed up to get ready for the show, it started to rain again. It just wasn't our day with weather. I can tell you, however, Iain was very proud of our mental focus today. We were on fire with the rehearsal. Everything went smooth and we didn't need to be corrected with most things we played.
Since today was our first home show since back in early June, there were many people coming to see us. After the show, it was unbelievable how many flocked to visit and see their fellow Cadets. It was extremely hard to load the truck with everyone there, but it was great to see such a great crowd and following. Along with visitors comes goodies!! One of the hornline players' parents brought us Gatorade and LOTS of rice crispy treats. Let me tell you, rice crispy treats are my FAVORITE dessert. I had about 3, or 4...shhh.
As far as the show tonight, I personally thought it was very clean from a musical stand point. The only downfall was the energy and tempo. The entire production was very slow from the very start. Granted the turf may have been a little wet it was still decently slow. And with that lack of energy comes consequences. We did not do as well in our large captions such as GE Music. This brought us down much further than we could have been. Hopefully tomorrow will bring a dry turf field, and more energy. Although we did go up at least a point from last night, we still need to put in much more energy. Don't let this slide Cadets!
