Day 6...Everything is finally coming together. We've put all the show music together with the entire pit. The first six days have been devoted to getting through the entire show so that we can put it together with the corps and see what it's going to look like so incase the designers need to make any 'big picture' changes they can get on it early. After we have learned all the music over these last 6 days, we will then get into the music and really detail it until it is absolutely perfect every single time we play it. Then we start to tour around the country and show off to the world all the hard work we have put in.
Today we had a long morning block and the kids at the high school got out early so when the students left the school we got about a 15-minute block of time where all the loud busses are driving by and the kids are peeling out...we obviously can't concentrate with trucks like this revving their engine (right). But we did, however, get everything done that we needed to. And my snack (below) kept me going throughout the day...haha definitely nutritious.
Tonight we did another ensemble block but we started with a percussion ensemble rehearsal which means that the marching percussion and the pit get together to work on the show music before we get together with the corps. The marching percussion is who we have to listen to when playing the show so we need to know what they're playing at all times and relate it to what we're playing so that we stay in time.
Once we finished with that, the corps joined us for a full ensemble rehearsal. We put more of the beginning piece of music together with the drill (marching on the field). So the first piece is almost complete with drill and music. Their goal is to have the entire first piece marching and music together by 3:45p on Sunday. Here is a link to YouTube with a video of the hornline playing a warm up arranged from Mahler's 2nd symphony.

You'll see me in there twice. The guy who makes these videos is GREAT! He does an amazing job editing videos for the the Cadets all summer. Also enjoy this one!
As of me right now, we're in ANOTHER Facebook block for 3 hours for the Chase Campaign. This is insane. We just sit on our computes for 3 hours and bug people on Facebook to vote for us. We're still in first and powering through the votes. We're averaging 2500+ votes per day. So as I said, if you have Facebook, go onto my Day 5 post and click on that link, search for "Youth Education in the Arts" and vote for us in the Chase Community Giving Campaign. Thank you!
Quote of the day: "Many hands make light work."
